NTEA recently visited Precision Truck Equipment Inc., a Distributor member in Lansing, Illinois.
The business opened its doors as Precision Hose Inc. and was originally owned by Paul Bult, with his father Dale Bult as his partner. It provided all sizes of custom-made hydraulic hoses and fittings to customers in Chicago and surrounding areas. Paul’s experience as a mechanic on waste hauling trucks allowed the business to expand into complete wet line kits, fifth wheels and truck fenders. Precision is a Parker hose distributor specializing in hoses for any application. The company stocks a variety of adapters and crimp fittings in JIC, NPT, Seal Lock, ORB, metric and standard. Hoses are made while you wait.
As time passed, demand for other services allowed Precision to add wheelbase alterations, specialty creep drives, and hooklifts and dump bodies. By developing the kind of installation and modification skills for equipment that others typically shy away from, or simply will not do, Precision created a market niche. Paul insists the work going out the door is done to specification, with no shortcuts and the finest workmanship.
The business’s name was changed to Precision Truck Equipment in 2001. Currently, it is located on 1 acre in Lansing, Illinois, with an 8,400-square-foot building. The company employs 12 staff members.
The parts and service area is designed for efficiency, with everything in its place. The hydraulic hose section offers enough work space to get the job done quickly and utilizes modular drawer systems by Stor-Loc for efficient storage of each type of fitting used to make hoses. The shop is much the same — large enough but structured to make the most of the work space, enabling the team to produce more with less room and effort.
Precision Truck Equipment’s quality of work has enabled the company to build solid relationships with some larger, local key accounts — garnering repeat business and contributing to its success. By stocking and offering a complete complement of support parts, hydraulic pumps and PTOs, toolboxes, lift axles, specialty lighting packages, and other accessories, the company can provide wet line kits (designed for easy installation) for those who perform their own work. All of the business’s parts can be purchased online as well.
This truck has a SwapLoader SL-400 with a Roll-Rite tarp system and Precision Truck Equipment HD aluminum full fenders.
