Work Truck Week 2019 features North America’s largest gathering of vocational trucks and equipment from Classes 1–8, including chassis, bodies, components and accessories. Attendees can explore the exhibit floor with displays from 500+ companies; educate and innovate with expert insights and training; and engage the industry at networking events.
The Work Truck Show® 2019 is scheduled Tuesday, March 5 through Friday, March 8, 2019 at Indiana Convention Center (Indianapolis, Indiana). Educational sessions, Fleet Technical Congress, Green Truck Summit, and Manufacturer and Distributor Innovation Conference begin March 5, and the exhibit hall is open March 6–8.

Lean 101: Straightforward Approach to Lean Implementation for Truck Equipment Upfitters
Learn how other NTEA member companies moved shop productivity to a new level through workplace organization and streamlining custom jobs. Doug Hanawalt and Ed Hlava, productivity improvement specialists at Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership, lead this workshop, which is designed for business owners and shop managers interested in gaining a minimum 20-percent increase in shop productivity without adding personnel or equipment and without shutting down current operations. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a hands-on upfit exercise modeling shop activity and improvement.
Fleet Management 101
Conducted by senior professionals from Mercury Associates Inc., this seminar offers a thorough introduction to the most important elements of an effective fleet management program. If you are new to fleet management or a business owner, agency director, or procurement or finance official who serves as the de facto fleet manager in your organization, this workshop is for you. Topics include maintenance program design and shop operations management; outsourcing and supplier management; performance measurement and benchmarking; managing vehicle total cost of ownership; and fleet replacement.
Generation Next Leadership Workshop: How to Become a League of Your Own
Becoming a league of your own isn’t about being number one in a league that includes everyone else; rather, it’s about becoming so good at what you do that you create a different league — and you’re the only member. Despite your product, service, price or location, creating extreme differentiation in customer experience is key. Dave Anderson, author, speaker, president of LearnToLead, will share customer experience data demonstrating “getting the wow” is worth it and cover steps for how everyone in an organization can positively impact the customer experience.
Purdue Road School
Purdue Road School brings together federal, state and local agencies, elected officials, and professionals from industry, consulting and academia to collaborate and reflect on diverse transportation topics. As part of the 105th Purdue Road School Transportation Conference and Expo, a select number of classes will be held at Indiana Convention Center in conjunction with the Show. Programming will address Indiana statutes and ethics for professional engineers, winter preparedness, and other critical subjects.
LTAP Fleet Educational Program: The Blizzard of 2039
Winter maintenance equipment and operations have changed over the last 20 years — largely through the introduction of electronic controls, liquid deicers and global positioning systems. While no one knows what our industry will look like 20 years from now, if we want to prepare for tomorrow’s demands, planning should begin today. Richard Domonkos, program manager for Indiana Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), will discuss which factors will influence future equipment and winter operations.
The Toyota Kata Journey — Daily Practice for Scientific Thinking, Mindset and Culture
Earlier approaches to lean focused on describing techniques at Toyota, but this is not how people acquire new ways of thinking and acting. Toyota Kata concentrates on developing scientific thinking skills and mindsets through a process of daily practice coached by line managers. Improvement Kata and Coaching Kata make the process transferrable beyond Toyota, to any organization. In this session, Toyota Kata Coaches will discuss research findings that are the foundation of the Toyota Kata book series. In addition, local Manufacturing Extension Partnership centers and a manufacturing client will share their Toyota Kata journeys.
